The concept for the A.G.A. Correa Co. (now, A.G.A. Correa & Son) subconsciously started forming in my mind at a very young age, when it became apparent that good looking, sea kindly boats, and the activities (both business and pleasure) associated with them and salt water, appealed to me more than school rooms.
For reasons I don't know, visualizing gold Monkey's Fist earrings and the Big Dipper in diamonds is far easier for me than visualizing A2+B2=C2. The maxim necessity is the mother of invention certainly pertains to me, as early on, I knew I had to do something I loved doing, and since my interests were not a defined occupation, I had to invent. The website, which I gather you are about to peruse (created by &Son), represents my last thirty-seven years.

Re: Director of Communications (DOC)
I think the occupation of company telephone operator should be reinstated. Perhaps the title "Director of Communications" (DOC) would make the position more appealing. (I suppose this would be considered a low blow to those folks who design the telephone "menu" drivel we are forced to endure, but with extensive shock therapy they could be reintroduced to the job market as a DOC). To properly answer a business telephone requires thought, thorough knowledge of the capabilites of one's cohorts, the King's English, excellent manners, flexibility, intuition, tact, and last, but not least, knowing that the hold button is to be used only after all other options have been optionized.
My respect for companies that employ a DOC is greater than one might think, as it reflects an accessible atmosphere throughout the entire organization. I believe that communication with my customers is as important as the quality of my jewelry.
Menus should remain in restaurants.
